Tracking a Salaried Employee’s Hours using Time and Attendance

Add a Memo Calculation for Hours

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Payroll > Memo Calculations.
  2. Click Add New.
  3. Select Memo Hours from the Memo Type dropdown menu.

  4. Change the Title to Salary Hours and Save.

Create a Time Card Permission Rule

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Time Management > Time Card Permission Rules.
  2. Add New.
    1. Security Rule Name: Salary
    2. Select the configuration based on the client’s specifications and Save.
      *Be sure to select Allow Self Service Punch to allow salary employees to clock in and out.

Create an Hours Allocation Rule

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Time Management > Hours Allocation Rules.
  2. Create a New Rule Set.

  3. Name the Rule Set Salary, select the Salary Hours Memo Calculation as the Base Earning, and Save.

  4. If there are absences (Holidays, PTO, Unpaid Time Off, etc.), you can add the appropriate absences to the Rule Set. The example below is for a paid Holiday. Repeat as needed for additional absences.

    1. Create a Rule for Paid Holidays to Process After the Base rule. The Rule Type will be Assign to Hours. (This replaces the base earning/memo calculation with a new earning code.) Click Next.

    2. Select the Earning to be applied. (In this case: Holiday.) Click Next.

    1. Choose All from the Group Period dropdown menu. Click Next.

  1. In the Target Earnings section, select (No Earning). Click Next.

  2. Apply the Condition Type, Hour is a Holidays. Click Save.

Create an Eligibility Rule

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Time Management > Eligibility Rules.
  2. Add New.
  3. Name the Rule Salary EEs and Select Timecard Policy Groups from the Types. Click Next.

  4. Click Add Filter.
    1. Field Category: Employee Pay
    2. Field: Pay Type
    3. Operator: In
    4. Filter Value: Select applicable Salary types. Click Done.

    5. Click Save.

Create a Policy Group

  1. Navigate to Client Management > Time Management > Policy Groups.
  2. Click Add New.
    1. Policy Group Name: Salary EEs
    2. Priority: The next available number.
    3. Hours Allocation Rule: Salary EEs
    4. Holiday Rule: Holidays
    5. Timecard Permission Rule: Salary EEs
    6. Apply Crossing Boundary to: Split Time
    7. Group Punch Pairs Within: 2.00
    8. Click Save.

  3. Click the Eligibility Rules tab.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Select the Salary EEs.
  6. Click Save
