Denver Occupational Privilege Tax (OPT)
The purpose of this SOP is to outline the standard process for handling Denver Occupational Privilege Tax (OPT) payments in iSolved. This ensures that each payment will be paid correctly and before the due date.
Denver EE OPT GOES OUT BY ITSELF!!
Step 1: Open up iSolved and head to the SG that needs Denver OPT paid.
- Once in that Service Group, On the left-hand side go to Tax Filing Management > Tax Payment Processing > Process Payments.
Step 2: In the Payment Processing Screen, un-check any payments that are checked in blue EXCEPT for the Denver EE OPT.

*Payments must go ACH Credit for the file to be sent over to the agency.

Step 4: Click Preview Payments
IMPORTANT!!! - Prior to processing and distributing payments, it is important to note that monthly and quarterly payments are not separated by default. Because these are considered two separate filings — even when reporting for the same period — the monthly and quarterly payments must be separated before pushing any payments out. A thorough review of the Preview Payments Report must be conducted to identify each client's filing frequency and remove the frequency that is not being filed at the time.
Step 5: Click Process Payments.
Step 6: On the left-hand side go to Tax Filing Management > Tax Payment Processing > Payment History.
- Click “Filter” at the top of the screen. Select your Batch if not already selected.
Scroll down a bit. Notice under “E-file Status Summary” it will have E-files pending. We have to send those to Denver EE OPT now but before we do that, we must create an E-file.
Step 7: On the left-hand side of your screen go to Tax Filing Management > Tax Payment Processing > Create Tax Payment E-files
Step 8: In the Create Tax Payment E-file screen, Click Filter.
Step 9: Check mark the files that populate and Click “Create E-files”
Step 10: Go to the top of your screen and Select “History”
Step 11: Click “Filter” and select your batch if not already selected.

Step 12: Click the “GO” button in the middle of the screen under Batch Reports. Once you click it, iSolved downloads a file to your computer. Save it! We will need this file in Step 17.
Step 13: Open up the “New State Registration Spreadsheet” (excel)
- Once you are in the Spreadsheet, look at the bottom tabs and go to the “Locals”
Under the Locals tab, locate “Denver OPT” under column B.
Step 14: You should be looking at the Denver OPT row, with the credentials in Columns D and E, use them to log into the Denver OPT website in column C.

Step 16: Click “Next”
Step 17: Click “add attachment”
- Another screen will pop up. Under “description” put the SG followed by the quarter the payment is due, and the year. Example, “COFO101 Q2 2025”

Once everything is filled in, Click “OK”
Step 18: Click “Next”
Step 19: Your screen should match the example below, displaying a summary of the attached file. Verify that the totals align with the payments processed in iSolved and compare them to the amounts being debited by Denver OPT from the tax account. If any discrepancies are identified, review the payment report by client to determine which client(s) are causing the variance. If a discrepancy exists or a client must be removed, cancel the Denver OPT Bulk Return File, reset the file in iSolved, make the necessary corrections, and reupload the updated file with the discrepant client(s) removed. If any penalties and interest (P&I) are identified, notify your SG immediately, as these charges will be withdrawn from the SG’s business bank account.
